Hidrovida (Center of aquatic activities)

Rua Padre Leonel Franca, número 110, Gávea

 Rio de Janeiro  CEP: 22451-000

The project was accomplished in Hidrovida (Center of aquatic activities) that it’s in  Gávea. We had as mediator the teacher Mônica  Gonçalves who gives lesson of swimming for  children of three to five years old of monday to friday in the part of the morning.

The purpose of  Hidrovida is to work the body in diverse activities that involve the water, and among these activities there are lessons of swimming, hydrogym and hydrotherapy. Our mediator is a swimming teacher that works directly with the question of the adaptation of the children in the water and teaches swimming techniques, that embody the control of the breath, the psicomotricidade, the control of the rotations of the body and the efficient armful for the diverse styles of swimming.

During it lessons, the  teacher Mônica used  the material E.V.A. (rubberized), as plates for the pupils hold them and practice the movements in the legs.

From the set of words that composes the vocabulary universe of Mônica Gonçalves, we recognize as subject for the project: “To catch the mermaid Vivi first to enter in the rings swimming with the spider”.

An activity related with the subject of the project was when the teacher Mônica spread some colored rings by the swimming pool, and made with that the children were to catch them in the color that she spokes. But at the moment that she called the names of the pupils, she called the boys “spider mans”, and the girls of “princesses”. But one of the girls has already  the nickname of “Vivi”, then in the hour of her to catch the ring, she was called “princess Vivi”.

From the activities that were been seen, mainly the previously one related with the subject, some ideas had appeared and one of them was to make molds of mermaids, spiders, octopuses, whales, fish, crabs of E.V.A and other materials. All the ideas that had been made and tested with base on the praticidade and in the resistance of the substances in the water. And between the ideas done and tested, the one that more called our  attention were the molds of E.V.A, that after chosen had been studied in the aspects of dovetails, ways to cut, colors and sizes.

The final project was a set of E.V.A molds of Mermaid, Spider and Octopus, for hand and head, based in the colors of the rainbow and divided in two sizes: the greaters for the teacher and the minors for the pupils. And these molds are being used in the theater form and in the apprenticeship of  swimming  during the lessons. There are 42 molds, being a kit of 6 for each pupil, and 6 for teacher.
