We realized our project on Marly Fróes Peixoto School (Escola Marly Fróes Peixoto), witch is localized inside ABBR (Associação Brasileira Beneficiente de Reabilitação), on Jardim Botânico.

We observed the class of children with brain paralysis, with five students who have different difficulty levels.

On classes, they realized activities witch stimulate the kids to exercise their difficulties and qualities, given them the most autonomy as they can have, so they can live their lives out there. Besides painting, drawing, reading (with their teatcher), the cildren are, mostly, an alphabetization process.

From observations and colected words, we got to the theme- phrase “letters, syllables and vowels go along with the class”. Then, we starded to develop our project, thinking about putting all the creatives activities together with the alphabet, with goes along with it.

After the experimentations, we could see what worked better and worse, what took us to three topics: letters with different textures, different smells, and a mark, that would help them to write, sinse for the majority, holding a pencil is amost impossible.

We decided to do an object that had all three things, and tried lots of sifferent materials, until we got to MDF.

Later, we took the plates to be cutted on Puc’s machine, and united that part with the textures, needled on an EVA, that makes sure the base won’t slip out when used. Also we did letters that fit on the base, rigids and fexibles; that ones with different smells. The mark has an metal base to put the hand into, covered with EVA, and magnetic letters, to put on the paint and print on paper.

. Sofia:  I learned a lot from this project. Not only as a professional, but as a person. Being there, with those children, made me happier and believing on what we are able to give. I learned, more than ever in my life, to see difficulties and don’t get scared, but see that we all have cappacity to adaptation, and to be, give and receive our best.

I thank Matheus for all the respect on the process, and mostly for the good company. I could get to know him better, and saw that there’s lots of good things to learn from him. That way, with a good reationship, we were able to go forward with our project and get where we wanted. That showed me people can always surprise us, and a team work can be great.

I thank Riso for receiving us that well, and always make herself available to put us on their students world. Her knowledge about them showed me that with attention is easy to communicate, even with the most unexpected ways.

Matheus:  After I got into that place, so new for me, I changed my way of seeing the world. I started to give more value to certain simple things, but really valuable. That made me start seeing the human being with new eyes.

que não devemos julgar uma pessoa sem antes conhecê - la,  já que o lugar que ela nos recebeu era tão especial.

I thank Sofia for trying so hard to conclude this project, that took an inestimated value in my life. That made me more excited about any work I will ever do. Thank you, Sofi.

I thank Riso for accepting me, as she did to Sofia. The fact that we were so welcome made me feel commited with the school, witch was what gave this project it’s most important.
