Colors and textures to express the emotion in acting classes

We did the project at the Municipal School Christiano Hamann, in Gávea neighborhood, with the partnership of Sandra Almada, a professor of Performing Arts. We were able to track activities dynamic activities, in which the professor has always sought the active participation of the students. In one of the activities she divided the class into two sides, being at one side the send beach and the other the sea. The students could choose which side to stay and so represent what people do there. Other moments that  we have followed were the improvisations: she normally divides the class into some groups, and explains which theme they should interpret. Usually they choose everyday scenes, then she waits fifteen minutes for them to organize themselves, and then the play begins. From the set of words in the vocabulary universe of Sandra, we recognize as theme for the project: "Learning theater is laughing about fear and timidity... is the place to release the emotion." One activity which can clearly be related to the project target is the "election of the class representative". Sandra wanted to take advantage of this moment for and extra achievement, , and simulate a real election. From the trials, the established concept was that we would try to build subjective "costumes" which were not so well defined. That means, it could be used in various ways and have different meanings and, therefore, the decision was set according to the experiments that were shaped like a loop of soft fabric. As the final product, we have created a set of tissues
of various sizes, colors and textures that have a rope in one of the edges and also the ability of being adjusted to any body part. We have used the following tissues: Tulle, Cotton and Satin, and the colors: yellow, light blue, dark blue, light green, red and dark green. In total 24 tissues were made. The students are using it in the most creative ways: capes, dresses, skirts and sleeves of blouses. The small pieces of fabric made by tulle, for example, they put on the head like a funny hat! They also use the fabric wide open on the floor as scenery, always emphasizing how good is having what to "wear" in this class.
Flora Conclusion: I learned in this Project and Planning, that the designer is active and participative from the observation to the construction, and that is what makes us professionals able to understand people's wishes ,
 with a fun and comfortable essence. I also learned that we will not always work with people willing to contribute, and we must be prepared to deal with certain situations and make them productive. I would like to thank my colleague Ana de Souza Dantas for all the support, and especially for her direct opinions, that made me learn that besides trying to help, we must also be open to accept the help and the criticism of others.
Also would like to thank Sandra for her guidelines so that the project would result in something useful and fun. That made me learn to always listen to what your partner has to say.
Ana Conclusion: My experience during the six months of project was essentially about partnership. On one hand, my partner, Flora, the person with whom I communicated best in years, a relationship that I did not expect! On the other hand, my partner Sandra, with whom the relationship was one of the more complex I've ever had. I would like to thank Flora for sharing every step of this process, which generated a great
complicity between us, teaching me the importance of working in pairs.
Thanks to Sandra for showing how relationships can be difficult; teaching me that we should always try to be objective try to get to the best solution.

 

Intercessor evaluation:

 

The researches and trials of the students Ana and Flora were very helpful in class, involving the students and making them interested in creating characters, and also reinventing the "proposals" of the objects. The final product was very interesting, well thought, and certainly will be very useful for the theater lessons. I would like to take this opportunity to thank, on behalf of the school, the lovely material given by the students!
