This project was accomplished due to participation in the Tai Chi Chuan classes at the Barra Garden with professor Marcelo Antunes. The martial arts class deals with people of all ages, searching for balance through concentration requiring exercises. From Marcelo's choice of words, we recognize the following as the project's goal: "Tai Chi Chuan helps everyone to find balance." One of the exercises practiced during the class requires the students to concentrate and move, while balancing all their weight on only one leg, while their hands move in a way that shows an imaginary globe. Based on the experiments that were organized and done by the intercessor, we were able to identify his intention of dealing with the question of balance through physical balance. Due to these conclusions, we developed 15 bamboos of approximately 11 cm diameter, varying 2 cm at regular intervals, from 2 to 30 cm, with the intention of using them for two exercises. The first one consists of balancing oneself on the upright bamboo sticks and walking upon them. The second exercise, which is known as 9 Squares, uses the bamboos which are placed where the vertexes meet, so as to form squares, as the exercise "field". The objective is to not let the bamboos tip over. To eliminate the risk of a fall, rubber was put on the lower part of each bamboo. In Patricia's opinion, developing the project was very important because it was very surprising to see that despite having come up as a casual idea, the project actually took off.
