The project was conducted at the Patronato Operário da Gávea, a day-care center for children of ages from 2 to 6 years, in the group of teacher Carmem which has kids from 4 to 6 years old. During the semester I could watch many activities as Math and Music classes, and drawing, painting and story telling activities. Observing those classes I collected words, and according to the set of words which compounds Carmen’s vocabulary I’ve devised the project’s theme: “It’s important to feel and live your day”. All the activities were, somehow, related with this phrase, because what really mattered to Carmen was whether the kids were happy with what they were doing or not. But one of the main preoccupations of Carmen was make the children having fun with the Math class, because it’s one that demands attention and is tiring. Beginning with this activity I made many objects that could be related to Mathematic, until I came to board game, by suggestion of Carmen herself after he has seen the finished objects I introduced to her. I’ve made a board which had as a target only to get to the other side; other to group some bees together for them to succeed to reach the hive; and yet other to answer questions to advance the steps. Through those games I have created my final project which is a board where children are the pieces and as they walk, they come across questions that make them move forward or retrocede, so they can learn to count and assimilate other class contents too. The steps of the game are cushions with bags on the sides to put the questions; they are made of fabric, filled with plastic sacks. The little bags were made with crystal plastic sewn to the fabric. This experience served to show to me what it is a project and as to make it and to also show to me that nothing is impossible of if producing, is enough to search and to try. I am thankful the Carmem for having all folloied me with enthusiasm in the project, that generated in calmer me to deal with what me it seemed impossible.
