The atelie focus mainly in the production of ceramic for restaurants or orders in general, having as a side kick a ceramics class. Alice’s function is to orient students and to produce the ceramics for delivery. I saw many activities taking place , such as: opening a clay plate, enameling clay vases, putting in the oven , sandpapering clay , amongst many others. From Alice’s vocabulary world , i recognized as a theme of this project the following phrase: “the purity of the form depends on the components” One of the activities observed that can be taken in as an example for the use of this phrase, is the use of the aluminum plaque to scrape the ceramic, or even the use of the PVC tubes to rise the sleeves of the pottery dish, waiting until it dries so that It can later go into the kiln. The adopted path was chosen to give shape to the plates with silicone, so that the whole piece can be built at once. The final object was built with 2 different types of silicone profile, one with a square cut and the other with a round cut. Since there was the need to fixate the silicone in the desired position , a aluminum wire was used inside each silicone profile strip. This product is being used as planed.
I learned to make mistakes with this experience, and that by making mistakes possibilities and alternatives are brought on,, narrowing it down to one conclusion.
I thank Alice for the patience, for being kind, and for caring about the project, which left me very happy and confident throughout the whole process.
