Colorful Batutas that Conduct Music Reading : Team: Gabriel Cesario Alvim Martinelli Bruno Ajdelsztajn Social Group: Sérgio Henrique Alves de
Andrade Nucleo de artes de Copacabana Rua Toneleiros, 21 Copacabana – Rio de Janeiro Our project has been made at the Copacabana Arts
Nucleus, with the usic teacher Sérgio. Sérgio lectures keyboard classes to kids and
teenagers from municipal schools. We’ve seen and folowed dferent activities, and found
that the most interesting activities hapened with the younger children he
lectures, because was trying to teach the basics of music in a more
intuitive, fun and easy way. Begining from the word that was said by him while he
lectures, we´ve recognized as the theme, the main goal o four project, the
folowing frase: “Read the Rhythm, read the Music read the Sound of Music”. Sérgio made the cildren play songs only by hearing
it , so reading the sound with their ears. After a
series of experiments we concluded that what Sérgio wanted was batutas that
helped the children to read the sounds with all of their senses. As a final project we´ve obtained series of
Colorfull Bamboo Batutas. At the total of fourteen batutas, each wan has a
color and size that is directly related to one sound of the musical notes. Sérgio uses them to help children to read the music
since musical scores and “true” batutas are dificult for children to
understand and read, and a hight abstraction level that makes our batutas the
ideal for children since they´re easy to read. This semester we have learned much buy doing this
project. Mosth of the lessoan were about the responsability that we bear and
the importance of “hearing before
playing”. We are truly grateful to
everyone that helped us on this project for everithing that we’eve learned
